After over a year and half of absence from teaching, today I
had my first classroom evaluation. I can't
believe the feeling seemed like a first time lecturer again. Just imagine how much time I had to set aside
in order to prepare for this one single time of the semester when the boss gets
to have a peek of how I am in the classroom.
During my conversation with our campus librarian this
morning, I mentioned to him that I was going to be observed and evaluated today,
he said "Oh they just want to make sure that you're not teaching your
students how to make bombs". He was
totally right. I don't know what makes
classroom observations so scary. It's as
if I never did it myself as well before.
But this time, the tables were turned, I was the subject of the
evaluation.
I hope I did well enough to make my students happy for the
day and the boss to say that she didn't make a mistake when she decided to make
me sign the contract that said "You're hired".
